Sistermadly - Rolling Stone Album review - Naked
Sydney based duo Melanie Forbes and Nicci Heffernan, aka sistermadly, have polished their country harmonies and pop sensibilities to a new glow on their latest effort, Naked. Reminiscent of Crowded House in places, Forbes and Heffernan intertwine their respectively sweet and raw voices to create a warm and bluesy set. Not shy about opening up, Naked delivers on the promise of the title, offering honest and emotive lyrics layered over sometimes mournful, sometimes uplifting pop melodies. "Strange" evokes Sarah Blasko, "Spiders" is a tightly written ballad replete with warm strings and drifting keyboard melodies, while "Side Of The Road" calls to mind Jane's Addiction.
At its gentle heart though, Naked is about Forbes and Heffernan's voices, and it's there that sistermadly shine.

Hit Pick – Music Network
Sistermadly is the musical union of Melanie Forbes and Nicci Heffernan and PEACE OF MIND is their glowing newborn baby! Originally carving a niche for themselves as songwriters and performers the girls were soon signed to SONY/ATV Music publishing releasing their debut Zephyrtown through Rubber Records.
PEACE OF MIND is an exquisitely relaxing pop/folk number that showcases Forbes and Heffernan’s vocal harmonies, with the two contrasting yet blending their varied styles. If ever there was a song for AC, this is it, while it still has plenty of appeal for CHR.
'A Sombre Breeze' - Street Music Rag
Vulnerability is sexy! Melanie Forbes and Nicci Heffernan of sistermadly sing loud and proud about their own human needs and in a romantic melodious folky pop way…. They pull it off beautifully due to the caressing aspect of their music and there is strength of personality which permeates through their live performances.
The duo relocated from the land of the kiwi in 1994, but that Neil Finn - Tim Finn - Dave Dobbyn - magical melody - spiritual word - thing is prevalent in their songwriting. The class and colour in sistermadly's music has led to their songs being thrust onto Aussie film soundtracks and compilation albums.
Consistent accolades seem as natural as their emphatic harmonies and due mostly to a sturdy partnership of many years professionally and personally.
sistermadly - Street Music Rag
The female duo know their way around a pop song and don't try and get too tricky with the harmonies, but come with something of simple and affecting charm, unashamedly in the pop realm, but with a brain.
sistermadly - Metro Magazine
The two-voice harmonies and guitars of Melanie Forbes and Nicci Heffernan are a discovery of rootsy, honest pop, strong on melody and irresistibly driven by the sheer unaffected joy of singing and playing.
Sisters Go Bonkers - Sydney Music Rag
SEAMLESS harmonies, gorgeous melodies, the two women at the core of sistermadly, Melanie Forbes and Nicci Heffernan are creating some of the finest acoustic pop around at the moment.
